For businesses and freelancers:

I haven’t used a phone book in years. When I’m looking for a business, I look on the web. Not only does it save trees, it saves time and lowers my carbon footprint if I view goods and services online first. I also feel that any savvy company these days will have a website. And I only want to do business with savvy companies.

There are more and more customers like me out there every day. Increasingly, people expect businesses, no matter how small, to have some sort of web presence. Understandably, this can be hard for very small businesses and freelancers to arrange. You probably feel you have hardly enough time to do what it is you do best. That's where I come in.

My mission is to create a virtual 'shop front' in cyberspace for your business. Think of me as your internet real estate agent, architect, builder and interior designer all rolled into one. I'll also perform basic optimization on your site to make sure you get as much 'foot' traffic as possible.

And it's not going to cost you an arm and a leg. While I design each site from scratch (no 'templates'), I keep them simple to keep your costs down. That's not to say your site will be boring - far from it. Take a look at my portfolio to see examples of the kind of work I can do for you.

If you like what you see, send me an email or give me a call. We can chat about your business and what kind of site you're looking for, and see whether we're a good match!

For families and individuals:

Most families today are pretty spread out, sometimes all over the globe. Even with cheap airfare and telephone calls, it can be tough to stay in touch, especially when it comes to sharing photos and videos of life events, growing children and travels.

Having your own website is a great way to give your family and friends access to those photos and videos, and they can download and print them as and when they wish. You can also have your own blog, which is especially nice when you have exciting things going on, like a new baby or an around-the-world adventure.

Since personal websites and blogs tend to be updated more frequently than professional ones, I can teach you how to do the updates yourself so you can do them as and when you like. If you prefer to pay me to do them for you, that's fine too.

Fees:

If you have been looking for a web designer then you probably already know that fee structures they offer can be confusing. That’s why I try to keep it simple. I ask you to supply me with the media you want to use (pictures, videos, etc.) and I charge a flat rate of £250 to design your site and £50 for each update thereafter. As a bonus, I will give you one free update for every new client you refer to me.

In addition to the site design you will need a domain name (internet address) and hosting (space on the internet where your site ‘lives’). Costs vary but are usually in the neighborhood of £60/year for the most basic package. I leave you the choice whether to arrange these independantly or through me. If I arrange the domain name and hosting for you, you pay only what they cost me – I don’t charge an additional fee for this service.

Existing clients who wish to give their site a new look will benefit from a discounted re-design fee of £175.

Location:

I am currently located near London, UK but have designed sites for clients as far away as Seattle and Cape Town. Although it’s certainly nice to meet clients face to face, it’s not really necessary. So if you’re in or near London, I’ll be happy to meet you and discuss your site in person. But if you’re farther afield, then there are other ways we can ‘talk’, such as email, phone or Skype.
